Dental Pain Does Not Wait.
A toothache, swelling, broken tooth, infection, or dental injury may become
more difficult to treat when care is delayed.
Same-day emergency dental appointments are available whenever possible.
Emergency Dental Care
What is considered a dental emergency?
A dental emergency is a dental problem requiring prompt professional
evaluation because of pain, infection, swelling, trauma, bleeding, or the
risk of additional damage. Examples include severe tooth pain, a dental
abscess, facial swelling, a broken or cracked tooth, a knocked-out tooth,
a painful lost crown or filling, uncontrolled oral bleeding, or pain that
prevents sleeping, eating, working, or completing normal activities.
Can a tooth infection become serious?
Yes. A dental infection may spread into nearby gum tissue, bone, the jaw,
face, or other tissues. Warning signs may include throbbing pain, swelling,
fever, drainage, a bad taste, tenderness when biting, or difficulty opening
the mouth. Medication alone may not remove the source of the infection.
Definitive dental treatment may still be necessary.
Can a painful tooth be saved?
Sometimes. Whether a tooth can be saved depends on the remaining healthy
structure, location and depth of a crack, condition of the nerve and roots,
extent of infection, and surrounding gum and bone support. Possible
treatment may include a filling, bonding, crown, root canal therapy,
periodontal treatment, or extraction when predictable repair is not possible.
Seek emergency medical care or call 911 immediately
for difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, rapidly spreading facial
or neck swelling, severe facial trauma, uncontrolled bleeding, loss of
consciousness, confusion, or another potentially life-threatening condition.
Dental Implants & Missing Teeth
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a tooth-replacement option that uses an implant placed
in the jawbone to support a dental restoration. Depending on a patient’s
needs, implants may replace one tooth, several teeth, support a bridge,
stabilize a denture, or support a larger full-arch restoration.
Who may be a candidate for dental implants?
Implant candidacy depends on the number and location of missing teeth, bone
quantity and quality, gum health, oral hygiene, medical history, medications,
tobacco use, bite forces, and treatment goals. Bone loss does not always
mean implant treatment is impossible.
How long does dental implant treatment take?
Timing varies. Treatment may involve examination and imaging, removal of an
unhealthy tooth when necessary, bone grafting when necessary, implant
placement, healing, and placement of the final restoration.
Restore your smile. Regain your confidence.

Invisalign® & FASTBRACES®
What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is a clear-aligner treatment system. A planned series of
custom-made removable aligners is used to move teeth progressively.
Clear-aligner treatment may be considered for selected cases involving
crowding, spacing, crooked teeth, overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite.
What is FASTBRACES®?
FASTBRACES® is an orthodontic treatment system using brackets and wires
to move teeth. Treatment suitability and timing vary according to tooth
position, bite, gum and bone health, age, complexity, and patient goals.
Which orthodontic treatment is best?
The best option depends on the clinical problem, lifestyle, oral-health
status, ability to follow instructions, and the amount and type of tooth
movement required. An evaluation is necessary before a recommendation is made.

Frequently Asked Dental Questions
Can you see me today for a dental emergency?
Whenever possible, yes. Healdsburg Dental Spa offers same-day emergency
dental appointments when availability permits. Call 707-433-0210 as early
as possible so the team can identify the earliest available visit.
Why does my tooth hurt?
Tooth pain may be caused by decay, a deep cavity, infection, an abscess,
a cracked tooth, inflammation or damage inside the tooth, gum disease,
grinding, trauma, a loose restoration, or a wisdom-tooth problem.
Can I wait if my toothache temporarily goes away?
Not always. Pain may temporarily decrease even though decay, infection,
a damaged nerve, or another underlying problem remains. Prompt evaluation
may help prevent the condition from becoming more extensive.
Should I save my tooth or have it removed?
Preserving a natural tooth may be appropriate when it can be predictably
treated and restored. Extraction may be recommended when a tooth is too
damaged, infected, fractured, or inadequately supported.
Do you perform root canal therapy?
Yes. Root canal therapy may be recommended when tissue inside a tooth
becomes inflamed, infected, or damaged.
Do you remove wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth are evaluated when they cause pain, swelling, infection,
gum irritation, cleaning difficulty, crowding concerns, or damage to a
neighboring tooth.
Do you provide dental implants?
Yes. Healdsburg Dental Spa provides dental implant evaluation and treatment
for selected patients needing replacement of one or more missing teeth.
Do you offer Invisalign® and FASTBRACES®?
Yes. Both Invisalign® clear aligners and FASTBRACES® orthodontic treatment
are available. The recommended option depends on the patient’s bite,
tooth position, gum and bone health, treatment goals, and case complexity.
Do you offer cosmetic dentistry?
Yes. Cosmetic options may include whitening, porcelain veneers, cosmetic
bonding, tooth-colored restorations, crowns, alignment treatment, implant
restorations, and customized smile-makeover planning.
Do you accept new patients and PPO insurance?
Yes. New patients are welcome, and the practice welcomes patients with
all PPO dental insurance plans. Benefits depend on the individual policy.
Do you offer $0 upfront financing?
For qualified applicants, $0 upfront financing may be available through
trusted third-party financing companies. Approval and financing terms
are determined by the financing provider.
